About the Race
Washington State has lost over 300 officers in the line of duty since it became a state.
Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) provides resources to assist in the rebuilding of the lives of surviving families and affected co-workers of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty as determined by Federal criteria. C.O.P.S. ministers to survivors’ needs by extending a helping hand to stabilize their emotional well-being as others suffering the same loss can be of service to new survivors during their periods of helplessness. Our mission statement is to rebuild shattered lives of survivors and co-workers affected by line of duty deaths through partnerships with law enforcement and the community.
Funding from outside sources enables WAState C.O.P.S. to offer survivors professional help through meetings, training for those survivors who are ready to actively support new survivors, family workshops, training to police departments to handle a line-of-duty death, and to financially assist survivors to attend National Police Week and their specific survivor retreat. Fundraisers like the Inaugural Back the Blue 5K are crucial to the success of our mission and the ability to help as many people as possible. Please support our event by becoming a sponsor, registering as an attendee or volunteering.
